Hi! My name is Darcy
and I am the owner
and stylist at
Canvas Hair pdx.
Thank you for your interest in Canvas Hair pdx and in me! Who am I and how did I get here?
My connection with hair began in my youth. It really kicked into high gear in high school. Anytime there was a dance or prom, everyone would end up at my house before the event to get their hair done. Then while in college, I worked at a hair salon as a receptionist and began learning about the business. About 2 years after my college graduation, I decided to go to beauty school. Now, over 23 years later, here I am, still loving my work. Working with my hands has always been part of my DNA. Coloring and sculpting hair snuggles right in to what brings me joy.
I have always enjoyed working with my hands. I spent a few years designing and creating jewelry. I also love design and decor. I've remodeled 3 homes and I still get overly involved in unnecessary house projects. A weekend spent organizing a closet or building a fence is often my definition of fun.

In my free time, I absolutely love to travel or be on the water.
Wandering around a new city, enjoying
a museum, spa or beautiful view; often paddling around
in a lake, these are all happy places. My favorite adventure
buddy is my 80lb pooch. We explore our world often.

The Space
Welcome to my little slice of the world. This is Canvas Hair pdx. The name comes from a life of artistic endeavors, using different mediums and working with my hands. I opened this little boutique salon in May of 2021 after closing my NW location. It's been very good for me, my work and my guest experience, which I'd love to share with you. The salon is bright, with natural light and lots of plants draping the shelves. The neighborhood is residential and quiet, the perfect place to unwind. I always have refreshments and snacks on hand to keep you feeling good while you're here. I'm located just off I84 and I205 and there is always a free parking spot waiting. You're welcome to choose your music and work or relax. I offer an optional silent appointment if your day was hectic and you don't care to chat. I want everything to be welcoming and easy for you. Head massage, glass of wine...the time is all yours.
I enjoy helping people to embrace who they are and the hair they've been dealt. Picture perfect hair is pretty and fun to dream about. But if it doesn't work with your lifestyle, it only serves as inspiration. If you add that inspiration to a realistic routine you're willing to commit to, you get a beautiful version of your personal hair reality.

My Craft
One of the most exciting things about being a hairstylist today, is how quickly styles and desires change. Those changes inspire me daily to continually educate myself so I can meet those needs. When you leave feeling confident and beautiful, I'm thrilled.
My Space
Canvas is a lovely little space, a true labor of love for me. The guest experience is something I value highly. Everyone should have a space in which they can feel safe and relaxed. I am here to take care of not only your hair, but also you. Feel free to read, sip on something, or close your eyes and simply...be.
